Dr. Shelton was born and raised in Southern Indiana, and dreamed of being a veterinarian since she was a child. After completion of her undergraduate degrees, she spent time teaching and practicing dental hygiene at the local university. She was also a veterinary technician and assistant for a total of 12 years before attending veterinary medical school. She obtained her veterinary degree from Purdue University, and practiced small animal medicine in Washington State for two years after graduation. She moved to this area in April 2018 to be closer to family. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, photography, painting, reading, and spending time with her husband and three dogs! She has three "children" (dogs): Yoshi (Shiba Inu), Dixie (Corgi), & Daisy (Mini Longhair Dachshund).
